"If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursed lot. If we must die, O let us nobly die, So that our precious blood may not be shed In vain", Claude Mckay.
The life of
Charles Victor Uchenna Ilo is where heroism meets patriotism in. He hails from Enugu state. This really young soldier was not only a soldier, but one who was passionate about the oneness of Nigeria. For the love of Nigeria, he was deployed to Borno to recapture Munguno from Boko Haram from which he never returned. Below is his last Facebook update:
"well, nothing more 2say,we are going back 2 recapture our
#monguno base 2day, i must fullfill my vow 4my country...my faith is one and ever! THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA"
Uchenna was was killed in February during a battle with Boko Haram members to recapture Munguno in Borno.
According to his close friends, Uchenna was a valiant soldier who loved the country with a passion and prayed for its unity at all times. He prayed before every operation and was very friendly. On December 23rd, 2014, he posted thus:
"Make una enjoy dis yultide season am still in d
#northeast ensuring u guys are safe....
MERRY XMAS"
Just so that Nigerians will be safe and happy, Uchenna sacrificed his young and promising life for us all in the fierce battle against Boko Haram.
View pictures taken from his burial at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri.
Rest in Peace Uchenna and all the unsung soldiers killed in the battle against Boko Haram.
