Nigeria police issue tips on how to behave at checkpoints



The Nigerian Police have issued tips to Nigerians on how to avoid clashes with officers at a police checkpoint.
The police gave the tips via their verified Twitter handle, @PoliceNG, on Monday.
The tips urged Nigerians to avoid an unnecessary argument or challenging armed personnel on duty.
They also advised Nigerians to avoid giving an unhappy impression when encountering an officer on their beat.

CCA seeks development of Nigeria, US trade

The Corporate Council on Africa has said it plans to advance trade, investment and business engagement between the United States and Nigeria.

In a statement, it said that some of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen shared their current business objectives and expansion efforts across Africa with the CCA.
The statement said, the President and Chief Executive Officer, African Media Agency/ CCA, Ms Florizelle Liser, and West Africa Director, CCA, Mr Ekenem Isichei, met with CCA board members, Mr Aliko Dangote and Mr Jim Ovia, and invited them to speak at the upcoming US-Africa business summit in June in Maputo, Mozambique.

Part of the statement read, “Liser met with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors during her recent visit to Kenya and Nigeria.
“This was part of the ongoing effort to promote the upcoming US-Africa business summit in Maputo, Mozambique and advance trade, investment and business engagement between the United States and Nigeria.”

It stated that the CCA, a Washington DC-based organisation, is a US business association focused solely on connecting business interests between the United States and Africa.
“CCA uniquely represents a broad cross-section of member companies from small and medium-size businesses to multinationals as well as US and African firms,” the statement read.

President Goodluck Jonathan Commissions First Locally-made Warship Today

History will be made today as President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan commissions the first locally made warship, NNS ANDONI, constructed by Nigerian Navy engineers.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to take place at the Nigerian Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The 31m Nigerian Navy Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) was conceived as a research and development project by Vice Admiral GTA Adekeye and Rear Admiral GJ Jonah who were then Chief of the Naval Staff and Chief of Naval Engineering respectively.
