Nigerian Student Breaks World Record; Scores 4.0/4.0 in Turkish Uni.

A genius could be referred to as an exceptional child who is academically sound. But, how would you describe an individual who never misses a point in his examinations from first year in the university to the final year?

Ojukwu to receive full military burial

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the former leader of Biafra, will be give a full military burial on March 2, 2012. At a press conference the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, said “I want to announce that President Goodluck Jonathan has approved that Ojukwu be given military burial according to military tradition."

Nigeria launches bone marrow registry

Nigeria has launched a new bone marrow registry that will link cancer patients and donors locally and throughout the world.

The launch of the registry is the first in Nigeria, and only the second of such registry in all of Africa. This launch is a milestone step in the country’s efforts to treat cancer patients throughout Africa and the world.

NIGERIA LAUNCHES NIGCOMSAT-1R IN CHINA

NigComSat -1R has successfully replaced the NigComSat-1 as Nigeria's major communication satellite. The newly launched NigComSat-1R was sent into orbit yesterday (Monday December 19) after the NigComSat-1 was de-orbited due to malfunctions of Solar Array Deployment Assembly, SADA, on November 10, 2008 was recorded.

Agency to commission launched satellites ahead of schedule

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NARSDA) says it is working ahead of schedule on the commissioning of the country’s recently launched two earth observation satellites - NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X. Frank Chizea, the project manager of the satellites, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the satellites’ ground station on Thursday in Abuja that the agency was currently carrying out the commissioning and testing of the satellites’ components to maximise their operations. Satellite commissioning process entails the uploading of vital software on the spacecraft within the telemetric view of the ground station. Mr Chizea said that the uploading of software at the ground station had been hitch-free as the ground station was also performing “extremely well”.

UN to conduct global threat review after Abuja bomb blast

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says the world body will soon conduct a global threat review following Friday’s bomb blast at its office in Abuja. The attack claimed no fewer than 23 people while more than 80 were wounded.
